"Back to School" Adults Scholarship Application

MI Foundation, provides continuing education scholarships for our members by offering scholarships toward the pursuit of Undergraduate degrees or Trade and Technical training programs for youth or “back to school” adults

"Back to School" Adult Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for a scholarship from the MI foundation you must meet the following criteria.

  • The recipient must be a student enrolled in an accredited college, university, junior college, trade, technical or vocational school in the continental United States
  • The recipient must (1) have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher or a B average or above in high school (for college freshman). A copy of the most current transcript must be submitted; or (2) demonstrate a continued commitment to growth and development by volunteering and actively participating in educational programs.
  • The recipient must be a current member of the MI Network (for at least 1 year).
  • The recipient is required to answer one (1) of the following essay questions:
  1. Discuss why you went back to school and how it fits into your long and short term goals?
  2. What do you feel are the most important characteristics of a leader? Describe how your experiences in school, work, athletics, family, church, and the community have helped to develop your leadership skills.
  3. Describe your most meaningful achievements and how they relate to your field of study and your future goals.

The essay should be typed on 8 1/2 by 11 inches paper in double space format, and should be no more than 3 pages long. Correct grammar usage is required and the essay should be a minimum of 300 words.

Application Process:

Applicants must complete and submit the application below along with two (2) typed letters of recommendation. One (1) letter should be from an organization on their letterhead where which you have volunteered and confirms your demonstrated community involvement and leadership skills. The other can be either a personal or professional reference.

Applications will be reviewed by the MI Network scholarship committee and finalists will be contacted for an in person or virtual interview. The cost of transportation to the interview site and the award ceremony are the responsibility of the candidates.
